Complaints Policy

The Editorial Board of the Economics of Development journal will respond promptly and constructively to all complaints and appeals. All cases of complaints will be examined based on their nature and complexity, and any decision made will be based on the recommendations provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Submission of complaints and appeals
Suggestions or complaints should be sent to the journal's email address: info@ecdev.com.ua.
All messages will be reviewed within thirty working days. However, depending on the complexity of the situation, the resolution time may be extended.

Requirements for complaints
The complaint should be:
  • Brief and specific.
  • Contain sufficient information to demonstrate a violation of the journal's publication ethics.
  • If possible, provide additional documents supporting the claim or violation.

Complaints outside the journal’s scope
The journal will not consider complaints that fall outside its scope. These may include, for example, personal complaints about authors, editors, reviewers, or Editorial Board members. In such cases, a response will be provided with a clear explanation of why the complaint is not subject to review.
The journal also refrains from conducting investigations if the complaint is submitted in an abusive, threatening, or defamatory manner.

Appeals procedure
If the author or any other party disagrees with the decision made following the review or complaint process, they have the right to appeal. The appeals process includes the following stages:
Submission of appeal:
  • The author or reviewer has the right to submit an appeal against the editorial decision in writing. The appeal must be sent to the journal's email address within 10 working days after receiving the decision.
  • The appeal should be specific, with a clear explanation of the reasons for disagreement with the decision and the provision of additional evidence or arguments.
Review of the appeal:
  • The appeal will be reviewed by a separate editorial committee that is independent of the initial decision. If necessary, independent experts will be consulted to review the situation.
  • All materials will be thoroughly examined, and a decision on the appeal will be made based on the principles of publication ethics.
Final decision:
After reviewing the appeal, a final decision will be provided, which may be:
  • confirmation of the initial decision;
  • a revision of the decision (if the appeal is deemed valid);
  • the removal of any sanctions against the author or the article.
The decision will be sent to the author or reviewer within 10 working days after the decision is made.

Transparency and Accountability
The journal ensures transparency in the process of reviewing complaints and appeals and guarantees that all participants in the process adhere to ethical standards, ensuring fairness and impartiality in scientific communication.
